COPPER

Copper, copper,

What are you for?

29 reasons,

I am sure.

On the path,

You gave us light,

Who could ask for more,

At night?

You warmed us,

Cooled us,

Kept us safe,

Wrapped the world,

In your embrace.

Copper bottoms,

Copper pots,

Ships and pans,

And tethered watts.

When Jesus made you,

Did you know?

Did your colour,

Let it show?

When Jesus said,

“The table’s set!”

Did you know,

You were a threat?

To plagues,

And sickness,

In all their forms,

Did you know,

You’d stop their storms?

Silver comes,

And silver goes,

But copper stands,

Against our foes.

Copper, copper,

What are you for?

29 reasons,

I am sure.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
