POEMS - 2019 - Rooms

ROOMS
Down through time,
I have entered many rooms,
And been dismissed,
For being too dumb,
While in others,
I was ridiculed and hated,
Put on trial,
For being a sore thumb.
I brought gifts,
That were rejected,
I gave feasts,
That may as well have been a crumb,
I sang songs,
That were out of rhythm,
With the beat,
Of their angry drum.
But I continued,
To enter each and every room,
Where the cost,
Was dear and then some,
Door after door,
I walked the floor,
Of garden,
Palace and slum.
I laid out tables,
I offered a plumb,
I sat and healed,
Everyone,
I heard their stories,
Many were glum,
I gave solutions,
I convened a scrum,
Some people told fables,
Some kept mum,
Some drank hard,
Of too much rum.
But as time went on,
And rooms grew dark,
And the world,
Grew sick and numb,
Bit by bit,
They listened to My story,
And learned,
Where I was from,
And the message,
I brought from heaven,
Drowned out,
The cumulative sum,
Of the hate,
And wounded emptiness,
That engulfed,
What their lives had become.
And in the end,
When their days were done,
When the skies ran red,
In the setting sun,
When their spirit was ready,
To bid “So long!”
I cried and said,
“I love you! Please come!”
“For your life is not over,
It’s just begun,
And My house has rooms,
For everyone!”

2 In my Father's house are many mansions [mone]: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place [topos] for you.
