FATHER ISSUES
I met a man the other day,
Who didn’t believe in God,
Said they’re all a bunch of hypocrites,
Sycophants and frauds,
And then he said, “I’m done with them!”
And I said, “What are the odds”?
“Me too! I’m done with them!
What are the odds?
Me too! I’m done with them!
What are the odds?”
He shuffled in his seat and said,
“The whole lot of them make me sick!
Leaning on their vices,
Just like crutches on a stick,”
And then he said, “I’m out of time!”
And I said, “Boy, that was quick!”
“Me too! I’m out of time!
Boy, that was quick!
Me too! I’m out of time!
Boy, that was quick!”
He stood and then he said to Me,
“I used to be a priest,
I gave up everything for them,
But now I am the least!”
And then he said, “I died for them!”
And I said, “Love will never cease!”
“Me too! I died for them,
Love will never cease!
Me too! I died for them,
Love will never cease!”
He walked a little further on,
And turned to wave “So long”,
And with a tremble and a tear,
His voice was almost gone,
And then he said, “My dad was right!”
And I said, “Mine’s never wrong!”
“Me too! My Dad was right!
Mine is never wrong!
Me too! My Dad was right!
Mine is never wrong!”
