KINGS
God doesn’t measure kings,
By the gold in their pockets,
Nor by the jewels,
Set in their lockets.
Earthly kings are tested,
The weak link in the chain,
They spill blood on the land,
The poor they have slain.
God gauges a king,
By scars and stains,
What does a king yield,
From his own blue veins?
God weighs a king,
By the freedom he gives,
And sifts out his laws,
In heavenly sieves.
God rates a king,
On a heavenly chart,
According to the size,
Of the love in his heart.
God loves a king,
Whose cross is His life,
Born to woo those,
Who live in strife.
Who says “Sit by me!”
“All that I have,
I give to thee!”
Who says “Fair is fair!”
“I’ll make for you,
A royal chair!”
