THE STAR TREK CONVENTION
The sign said, ‘Star Trek Convention’,
So I laughed and peeked inside,
I saw Captain Spock look-a-likes,
Each one dressed with pride.
I slowly stepped into the entrance,
And stood at the back of the crowd,
Weaving among Vulcans and Androids,
When Captain Kirk announce out loud:
“Welcome earthlings and extraterrestrials,
You are in for an extraordinary treat,
For today we have a special guest speaker,
So please if you will take a seat.”
A startling figure took centre stage,
Dressed in brilliant, gleaming white,
And He shone just like the noonday sun,
A truly astonishing sight.
He spoke about warp speed and transporters,
About creatures not seen here on earth,
He spoke about force fields and star logs,
And about gems of unparalleled worth.
He spoke about a unique matter,
That CERN and PI value most,
He spoke about omnipresence,
And his partner the Holy Ghost.
He spoke about a Book that Breathes,
That creates, transforms and shields,
He spoke about his Father God,
In whose presence all substance yields.
He spoke about other dimensions,
Other realms and kingdoms to come,
He spoke about the presence of evil,
Under which many had sore succumb.
He spoke about his own ‘Enterprise’,
His own voyage to earth to save,
He offered the audience His protection,
A salvation from an eminent grave.
He said that His name was Jesus,
And thanked them for being who they were,
He said that there weren’t many out there,
With whom His science could concur.
He said there were not many earthlings,
Who wanted to look beyond the void,
But to be sure He was The One,
Who kept them from being destroyed.
He told the Trekkies to “Live Long and Prosper”,
For they loved Him like only they could,
And in a flash He went back to church,
Where He was so often misunderstood.

John 8:12 (KJV)
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying,
I am the light of the world:
He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
But shall have the light of life.
